How to Respond to Same Sex Marriages

It's been an interesting ride this last week with all the fur flying on social media over the recent decision by the Supreme Court to legalize same sex marriages.I found myself frustrated at believers and unbelievers alike. They were rude, cruel, unkind, and even hateful.I wanted to grab more than a few people and require them to take a time out.Christians embarrass me at times.

Same sex marriages are about people we are called to love

We are called the people of the Cross, because we love people... even if they disagree with us or hold different values than we do. Even when they hate us, slander us, reject us, or murder us.Love is our call. Love is our mission. Be it ISIS, the KKK, your neighbor, your parents, pastor, or those who choose a same sex marriage. Please don't forget that. And please act like you believe it.

It is interesting that Jesus never wavered from his kingdom convictions, but He also led in such a way that people were drawn to Him, even if their personal values did not line up with His. They felt safe, they were honest, and their lives were ultimately transformed by the power of His presence. Somehow, He engaged them in such a way that they wanted to embrace and walk in the truth that He modeled and taught—that’s kingdom transformation! - Glen C. Burris, Jr, President, The Foursquare Church

Love wins

You know that, don't you? Rosaria Champagne Butterfield's My Train Wreck Conversion is a perfect example. She was a leftist lesbian professor who despised Christians, yet somehow became one.And in case we forget... we are living in a secular society. Why should we expect it to act Christian? The world I grew up in doesn't exist anymore. But love does. You've probably have lots of examples where love has dramatically impacted the people around you. I'd love to hear one of your stories.Let's chat,Susan
