God Throws a Party to Celebrate You!
Every December we celebrate faith, family, and friends with Christmas carols, feasting, sparkling lights, and the traditional Christmas pageant featuring shepherds, Joseph and Mary, the angels singing, and, of course, baby Jesus. It's a big deal. And though we focus on the incarnation—God clothing Himself in flesh and bone and living among us—we often miss the fact that God is also celebrating. That's why He sent angels to fill the night sky, singing and declaring the message of the birth of King Jesus to the shepherds.
God is celebrating YOU!
It's a big deal. This whole Christmas thing was for us!
- A Savior born to save us from the sin that had separated us from the One who loves each of us as if we were His only love.
- To celebrate His perfect, complete, and unconditional love for us, conclusively demonstrated in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Himself as our bridegroom.
Remember Zephaniah, the prophet? He nailed it.Zephaniah talked about a time when God would be among us or in the midst of us:
The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17 AMPC).
There is no mention of your failures, mistakes, or wrongness
No judgment. No condemnation.Just celebration (see also John 3:16-17... especially verse 17).Why is that important?Because most of what we focus on in our minds are the things that are wrong—about us, our lives and our relationships. We are our own worst accusers.God is not into that kind of thing. He doesn't accuse you (see John 5:22, 45 and Romans 8:1).
Instead, God throws a party
In the last phrase of Zephaniah 3:17, the word exult means to dance wildly—to spin around with ecstatic joy. When was the last time you stopped and used your sanctified imagination to see God dancing over you with that kind of joy?Yet that is what He is doing.Right now.God ALWAYS throws a party for you.Because He is madly in love with you.So take some time this Christmas season to let your sanctified imagination help you know, see, and feel God dancing over you with ecstatic joy. It's a big deal. And not just at Christmas.Hugs,Susan
