A Touch of Beauty to Nurture Your Spirit
Invest in something eternal this year by nurturing your spirit. You need this more than the latest diet or supplement, because your spirit was made to last for eternity. Our spirits are designed to lead our mind and emotions. But because we don't nurture our spirits, we're often unable to give our minds correct direction or give joy to our emotions. And we wonder why we're an emotional mess at times!Last month we looked at prayer and God's word as ways to nurture your spirit. Today I want to urge you to nurture your spirit daily through beauty.
Nurture your spirit with beauty
Our spirits crave beauty. We long for the One in whose image we are made, and he is beautiful. Our spirits are drawn to him when we see something beautiful and pure. You know what I'm talkin' about. How many times have you just sat and watched the waves wash over the sand, or the rain fall gently across the landscape and felt a peacefulness that calms your mind and emotions? The cares of your world fall into perspective, and you feel connected to God.Sometimes beauty is found in a painting, a child's face, or the orderly array of dishes on your kitchen shelf. Often we stumble upon a deep beauty when we least expect it—like catching the songbird sing right outside our window or watching the falling snow glide across the road on our way to work.Today I found beauty in the images of this video and in the lyrics and music of "Amid the Falling Snow" by Enya. Enjoy.Spending a few minutes each day to enjoy something of beauty is an eternal investment. Your mind and emotions will thank you. And so will the folks you live and work among.Don't lose the wonder that beauty brings!Have a great weekend, Susan"Jesus likes it when we share." -Adelaide, age 3: Pass this along to everybody and their brother. OK, maybe not everybody's brother, but you know . . . all of your friends would be nice.
