When evil shouts, God whispers. This week twenty children and seven adults were murdered at a Connecticut elementary school. On the same day a man slashed twenty-two children outside the gate of Chenpeng Village's Wanquan Elementary School in China.Evil shouted.We wept.If a movie doesn't have a happy ending, we leave the theater feeling empty. A documentary can have an unhappy ending, but not a movie, a book, or a life.Our lives were meant to have happy endings. It is ingrained within us. When bad things happen we know instinctively that things are not right.We know there is "wrong," and we are repelled by it.

Evil shouts in our face, and we pull away.God whispers in our ear, and we are invited to draw close to listen.And what he whispers moves us towards people.

What God whispers

There's a story to tell of a baby born of a whisper, hidden from most of the world until he grew into a man and touched multitudes damaged by evil.When evil thought it had finally triumphed over the man by nailing him to a cross, the man walked out of his grave and crushed evil under his feet.The cleanup of that battle is almost complete, though the man has warned us that evil will continue to shout until the man returns from the heavens to expel the evil and silence his voice.Draw close to the man. Listen to his whisper. Proclaim his good news from the roofs and touch the multitudes damaged by the evil.

So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight: what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs (Matthew 10:26-27 NIV).
