Disaster Relief Agencies That Serve in Jesus Name

Disaster Relief Agencies serving Hurricane Sandy

Disaster relief agencies are quickly responding to Hurricane Sandy as the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are struggling to recover. I'm looking to help and hope you might be too.Have you thought about extending a helping hand "in Jesus name?" Donations and skills are needed.I think that's important because a spiritual legacy is all about Jesus and the things he does through you and me (see John 10:25). It is his reputation we're building and his name that we're making famous.

World Vision is distributing flood cleanup kits, personal hygiene items, and emergency food kits. The Salvation Army is committed to "combat disasters with acts of God." (Ya gotta love that tag line!) They are providing cleanup kits, food, and emotional and spiritual care to those recovering from Hurricane Sandy. To donate your skills, check out Samaritan's Purse. They are looking for volunteers of all skill levels to aid with debris cleanup, mud outs, and rebuilding.Operation Blessing International teams are serving up to 2,000 hot meals a day with their mobile kitchen, providing kerosene heaters, and using their construction trailers for debris clean up and to tarp roofs.Connect with your local church to see how you can join others helping with disaster relief. Father's House is planning to help send our Disaster Relief Chaplain, Fran Graham, as part of a Foursquare Disaster Response Team headed to the East Coast. She's been well trained for the job ahead. (If you are part of our Father's House family, we'll be taking up an offering for Foursquare relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy this Sunday.)When we join together with these disaster relief agencies we are extending a helping hand in Jesus name. Some can go, and most of us can give.Like King David, I hope my spiritual legacy will read, "After Susan had done the will of God in her own generation, she died and was buried" (Acts 13:36 Susan's version). Simple, but enough. What about you? How are you planning to respond to Hurricane Sandy's destruction? Share with us in the comment section below.Have a great weekend! Susan"Jesus likes it when we share." -Adelaide, age 3: Pass this along to everybody and their brother. OK, maybe not everybody's brother, but you know . . . all of your friends would be nice.Related posts:How to Outlive Your LifeWill You Make a Difference in Someone's Life This Year?
