Father’s Day. Do those words put joy to your heart and a spring in your step? If not, it may be because:

• You didn’t have a good relationship with your dad.
• Your heart hurts for your kids who didn’t have healthy dad experiences.
• Your grandchildren are growing up without a dad to look up to.
• You miss your dad who has passed away.

I’m asking because I counsel so many people who struggle with father issues.

Even those who had a great dad often find it difficult to relate to God as Father.

They can’t feel His hugs or hear Him whisper words of affirmation in their souls.

So today I’m sharing a Father’s Day idea that you can totally take and run with…

…for yourself or as a Father’s Day note to your kids or grandkids.

Take one or two of the following Scriptures and weave them into a love note from your Forever Father.

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye (Deuteronomy 32:10 KJV).

I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters… (2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV)

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness’ (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV).

Your note might read something like this:

Dear ______________,

This Father’s Day I wanted to remind you that you are loved with an everlasting love by your heavenly father. You are the apple of His eye. He pulls you into His arms with kindness and calls you His own.

He has promised to be a father to you when things are going great in your life and when they are not. He has promised to lead you and instruct you every day of your life.

Tuck this little note away and pull it out when you feel you need a daddy to hold you tight. Ask the Lord to remind you once again of how much He loves you.

And, by the way, I love you too.

Read this note to yourself or send it to your kids or grandkids.
