Pray This List of God’s Promises for Your Home {Thursday Therapy}

Have you ever looked for a list of God’s promises for your home? All of us want peaceful homes, but sometimes that seems so far from our reality.

Not only does God want to bless your home, but he also has instructions on what you can do with your heart and actions to help bring peace to your house.

God wants to work with you, and he is for you. He partners with you in making your home into a godly place to raise your family and enjoy your life.

In the following Scriptures, note the promise God has for your home and what your heart condition and actions should be as you partner with him.

Regularly pray these promises over your home. Believe that God will cause them to come to pass!

List of God’s promises for your home

1. Psalm 91:9-10

If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the LORD, who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent (Psalm 91:9-10, NIV).

Your heart: make God your inner dwelling place and refuge

God’s promise: you will be safe from harm, disaster will avoid your home

2. Psalm 112:1-3

Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever (Psalm 112:1-3, NIV).

Your heart and actions: praise, worship, fear the God, find your delight in God’s Word

God’s promise: your children will be mighty and blessed, wealth will be in your home, your righteousness will be a legacy that endures forever

3. Psalm 147:11-14

The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. Extol the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion, for he strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat (Psalm 147:11-14, NIV).

Your heart and actions: fear the Lord, put your hope in God’s love, worship and praise the Lord

God’s promise: he will strengthen his protection over your home, bless the people who live in your home, give you satisfying food, grant peace between you and your neighbors (“Borders” represent safety and a boundary between you and a neighbor.)

4. Proverbs 1:22

But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm”(Proverbs 1:22, NIV)

Your heart and actions: listen to God

God’s promise: you will live in safety and peace without fear

5. Proverbs 14:11

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish (Proverbs 14:11, NIV).

Your heart and actions: walk in integrity

God’s promise: God’s purposes for your home will succeed

6. Proverbs 15:25

The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow (Proverbs 15:25, KJV).

This is a promise for those who have lost a spouse—perhaps yourself, a neighbor, or a parent who lives alone

God’s promise: God will take responsibility to establish security for your property and good relationships with your neighbors (“Borders” represent security and a boundary between you and a neighbor.)

7. Proverbs 21:20

In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has (Proverbs 21:20, NIV).

Your heart and actions: conduct your relationships and business with wisdom

God’s promise: God will provide your home with plenty of good food and other things that bless your life

8. Isaiah 32:18

My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest (Isaiah 32:18, NIV).

Your heart: be a disciple of Jesus

God’s promise: your home will be secure, peaceful, restful, and undisturbed by the drama of the world

Which Scripture on this list of God’s promises jumps out at you? Which one will you start acting on and using to pray God’s Word?

Praying with you, Susan

I’ve been praying these promises over my home since 8/8/18. I believe in intentional miracles because we serve an intentional God. I received these prayers that day from your website. That was the first ever contact I had from you . Later that week I received a notice from Wellsfargo that my home was in jeopardy. They’d filed with the court on 8/7/18. God sent His promises through you, INTENTIONALLY!
      Thank you and God Bless

I’m asking for prayer that I find a place to live in the next 2 weeks and that I have the financial means to put down on it to secure it. I’m currently in a desperate situation but there is nothing God can’t provide for he loves me. I pray that I not let my thoughts and anxiety overwhelm me

  5. Krisztine Kun

I am sitting up at a late hour tonight.becaus the ceiling over me is dripping on me due to a heavy all day rain. This is my stepmom ‘s house. I have been here for a while now. She is a border and doesn’t do anything to fix or repair here.Earlyer there was a loud crash from another room where part of the ceiling has already fallen. I need to leave as soon as God provides the finance’s to make that possible. I know that He wants only the best for His children and that He already owns everything,so why it hasn’t already happened is a mystery to me. Please pray that it happens before something drastic occurs. Thank you for this site. Blessings

  6. I

Hi Susan, I’m just wondering if you think a house can be ‘cursed’ as such.
It’s a long story but I’ll try to shorten it as much as possible.
I’ve lived in my home for 21 years now , with my husband and now 3 children. The house was my mother in laws and we partitioned part of it of and built a bit on . About 13 years ago there was a fall out , my mother in law and my sister and brother in law turned against us. Life was simply unbearable after that without going into all the detail but my husband would not move , financially not possible anyway as we couldn’t sell , it was that bad I wouldn’t have moved out on my own but again couldn’t afford to .
There is a lot of land to the house which was all left to my brother in law , he lets it out and our house is in the middle of it, obviously we don’t have a word to say about anything that goes on even though it’s beside us , my brother in law hangs around all the time but there is little to any communication.
We both work hard but never seem to have enough money to get things done around the house that need done , there also never seems to be much happiness in my house.
I have been a Christian most my life and have prayed and prayed but never have felt contented in the situation, a would have prayed for God to either give me contentment or to change circumstances but nothing changes, my husband is also a Christian.
So much else went on but obviously I can’t message it all
So not sure what way to go , I am currently thinking of moving to a rented house on my own but again financial pressure, I know I don’t feel any more content about things.
I often wonder is it a family thing past down or something like that , my mother in law was a very, bitter, nasty woman.
    Thanks for your help
    Pamela
