Don’t Miss the Real Valentine {Thursday Therapy}

Don’t miss the real Valentine. Every woman longs for a knight in shining armor who will protect her as his beautiful queen, and every man wants to be that king who defends his queen.

Real life destroys that dream. Not one of us has what it takes to be that kind of king or queen. We’re too human—full of dysfunction and fear.

So we love imperfectly.

Until one day we meet Jesus who has promised never to leave us or forsake us as he changes us into what we are destined to become—his bride.

All we have to do is draw close to King Jesus and respond to his every move and word. Within that intimate love dance we find ourselves becoming the king or queen our earthly spouse deserves.

The tendency is to think that God will love us if we change, but God loves us so we can change. – Thomas Ryan

Then we fall in love again with the imperfect man or woman God has given us.

Don’t Miss the Real Valentine

Who you are becoming depends on who or what you are intimate with. Are you more intimate with your fears, anger, work, or your own needs than you are with Jesus?

It shows.

All the therapy and self-help in the world can’t transform you. These are simply tools the Holy Spirit uses once you begin to draw close to Jesus in a life-giving dance of intimacy.

Don’t miss the real Valentine—the one who has the power to love you so much you change into someone beyond beauty, beyond brave, and beyond what you ever thought you could be. Don’t miss Jesus.

I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you (Jeremiah 31:3 RSV).

May the Lord guide your hearts into God’s pure love and keep you headed straight into the strong and sure grip of the Anointed One (2 Thessalonians 3:5 VOICE).

In the strong and sure grip of Jesus, Susan
