This is the year for seeing naturally supernatural encounters of the God kind. Yep, it’s true. I’m expecting it. *wisdom gleam in her eye*
A few weeks ago I was shaken awake in the middle of the night. This wasn’t a new experience, and it wasn’t a California earthquake interrupting my sleep. I know the Lord sends angels to sometimes shake me awake to pray, as I am a sound sleeper. So I shake, wake up, and I pray.
This latest shaking was different though. This time I saw the hand and sleeve of the one shaking me as I raised my arm to stop the intrusion. No, I wasn’t dreaming. It was real.
I prayed about everything I could think of, and I have pondered the experience ever since. Why combine a visual and physical experience of a supernatural hand shaking me with the normal call to prayer? I mean, it was cool and all, but why? What am I missing?
Naturally Supernatural Encounters
The book of Revelation indicates that as we draw closer to the time of the Lord’s return, the boundary between the supernatural realm and the natural realm will dim.
When Jesus and the early disciples walked the earth, the supernatural collided with the natural world every day:
- Sickness supernaturally left the afflicted
- Water turned to wine
- People ate food that had not existed moments before
- Demons vacated previously occupied territory
- Handkerchiefs and shadows healed people
- Men walked on water or were transported to new locations instantly
- Angels visited folks with messages
- (Read the gospels and the book of Acts for details)
I want all that.
I want naturally supernatural encounters of the God kind to happen daily in my life. I’m a God junkie.
Over the last three days as I’ve prayed and watched for God’s naturally supernatural invasion of my world, I have observed:
- A friend healed after a long season of debilitating illness
- Financial provision for a family in need
- The report of a friend’s encounter with Jesus in Heaven
I’ve had God encounters in my life, and you can read about some of them in my book, Intercessors, God’s End-time Vanguard, but this year I want more than just the experience of the supernatural. I want Jesus.
I want to watch what he’s doing and experience what he’s doing. I want to get to know him better by seeing what he enjoys doing and hanging out when he’s doing it.
This year I’m asking and looking for a supernatural encounter every day. If you don’t look, you won’t find.
So I’m on the hunt. If Jesus is around, there will be signs of his presence.
How about you? Care to join me in watching for his fingerprints in your world?
Watching with you, Susan
